UAS is an Actuarial Science Society that facilitates interactions between current members and employers, furthers understanding of what it means to be an actuary, and provides social outlets during which members can network with one another.

Joining a professional society is the ideal way to form life long friendships with people interested in the same field as you. These bonds prove to be extremely important when looking for a study partner, wanting to borrow an actuarial study manual, or even in need of a full-time or internship position. Many of the company professionals recruiting at the annual University of Connecticut Actuarial Science Career Fair are UAS and Gamma Iota Sigma alumni; it is always helpful to see a familiar face when seeking a job opportunity.

Throughout the year, UConn Actuarial Society hosts company representatives who come to talk about the actuarial opportunities available within their company. Generally, the informational session lasts one hour, with food and drinks provided.

The members of UConn Actuarial Society come together to participate in the University of Connecticut’s intramural sports program in sports such as flag football and volleyball.

UConn Actuarial Society is very committed to helping those less fortunate. Our philanthropy chair is dedicated to pledging our service to various community outreach programs throughout the year.

By joining UConn Actuarial Society, you are taking the first step towards one of various leadership positions available within the fraternity. President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Speaker Series Coordinator, Philanthropy Chair and Social Activities Chair are a few of the positions members aspire to.

Many social activities are planned throughout the year; for example in the past we have done: bowling, bar nights, poker tournaments, and trips to New York City. By joining UConn Actuarial Society, you will learn more about the actuarial field and industry opportunities, and have fun doing it!
